The car for this road trip is a six speed, manual, 2011 Silver BMW 535i, with 80,583 miles on it at the start of the trip. Outfitted with a Cobra CB radio, Valentine One radar detector, Garmin navigation, and several phones for waze, maps, and music. With a highway fuel consumption of nearly 30 miles to the gallon and an 18 gallon tank it has a rough range of about 500 miles in between refuel stops.

It is a rear wheel drive car with a 3 liter straight six engine. 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds, and electrically governed speed of 130mph.

On a personal level, I love this car. I’ve taken it to New England by myself several times, driven from Raleigh to Wilmington countless times, and spent a year taking it to school. Never has it failed to please. Definitely looking forward to driving it 6,000 miles plus on this road trip and going coast to coast.
